Three companions see their quests resolved here, all three can be skipped/missed, two have pretty significant consequences whether you do them or not though. Pretty much everyone has a significant quest/decision opportunity here, especially so for one race in particular. There's a small handful of sidequests, but a lot of them are missable or skippable. There's only really one main quest option to get to the finale (for most playthroughs) but how you end up uncovering it your first time around has a couple of different ways to get there, most of which are not obvious. Lots of people kind of fumble around in this Act not knowing what to do similar to the start of Act 2, but kind of worse.

It's possible to kind of skip right to the end but it takes a lot of foreknowledge to either plan out or take the right actions. At least one companion has basically a questline resolution here, two others have fairly significant revelations/opportunities.ДЄct 4 is very large in terms of area, and while it doesn't feel as empty/pointless as some parts of Act 2 and Act 3, there's not quite as many quests and things to do here, and very few additional combat encounters you won't run into without doing the quests. A couple side-combat options and many sidequests in Fort joy, several side-combat options and a few sidequests outside of it. Vague summaries of the available content in the game follows, trying to be as unspoilerish as possible while still pointing out that some races and companions have significant story options in different acts.ДЄct 1 there's like 5 different ways out of Fort Joy, then you only really need to do like one of 3 or 4 different quests to get to the final fight. There's several redundant main quests and optional sidequests in most acts that are fairly skippable to a large degree aside from the experience gained depending on how challenging you want future combat to be. You can also get away with doing very little of each Act if you want to. Give or take 5-10% variance for each one. For a percentage-wise breakdown: Act 1, maybe 20% of the game. How long it takes you to finish them will probably vary wildly from person to person based on how thorough you are with questing, combat, looting/thievery, and how much you obsessively save and load to try different things.
